Best practices: Our production in Germany and France

Approved by national and international authorities (i.e. the U.S. FDA), we manufacture medicinal products in our European production plants at Pfaffenhofen in Germany and Altkirch in France (active pharmaceutical ingredients) according to GMP standards (Good Manufacturing Practices). State-of-the-art equipment and automation in accordance with the latest technology ensure constantly high production quality.

Located 60 km north of Munich, Pfaffenhofen has in recent years become a well-known industrial centre. More than 400 people are working in our European production plant for pharmaceutical bulk and finished goods in Pfaffenhofen. In the Pharmaceutical Development Department, more than 70 employees work on development projects for DAIICHI SANKYO worldwide.

The manufacturing activities comprise biotechnological production, production of semisolids and liquid pharmaceuticals (ointments, gels, liquids) and production of solids (tablets and film-coated tablets). Regarding solids formulations, the production output is approaching 2 billion tablets in 2008.

More than 40 million packages and approximately 4 billion tablets of our products can be produced annually in our production plant in Pfaffenhofen. From here, they are shipped throughout the world. In cooperation with its licensees, we distribute pharmaceutical goods in more than 50 countries worldwide.
