The great efforts and achievements of Daiichi Sankyo in improving cardiovascular care have also been acknowledged by external business experts. In January 2009, the highly respected magazine R&D Directions honoured the company with its "Best Cardiovascular Pipeline Award". In making their decision, the experts at the magazine stated that Daiichi Sankyo was one of only three companies active in both the fields of anti-coagulants and anti-thrombotics.
